fortunate與lucky的用法區別
兩者均可表示“幸運的”，但 fortunate 比 lucky 更正式，多用于較重大的事情；而lucky 則較口語化，多用于日常談話中，且含有因僥幸或機緣而得到好運的意味。但若敝開此細微區別，兩者在用法及句型搭配上有很多相似之處。具體應注意以下幾點：
1.以下幾句均可說，且大致同義：
他很幸運有一位好妻子。
正：He is fortunate [lucky] in a good wife.
正：He is fortunate [lucky] in having a good wife.
正：He is fortunate [lucky] to have a good wife.
正：He is fortunate [lucky] enough to have a good wife.
正：It is fortunate [lucky] (for him) that he has a good wife.
但嚴格說來，以上結構有時有細微區別：后接不定式通常暗示主語的一種好運氣，有時可能指一種僥幸；而后接 that 從句則通常指一件令人愉快的事情。比較：
He was lucky to pass the driving test.
他僥幸通過了駕駛考試 (暗示：He wasn’t really up to the standard)。
It’s lucky that he passed the driving test.

2.在“某人＋be fortunate [lucky]＋不定式的一般式”中，若 be 為一般現在時 is, are 等，其后的不定式通常為靜態動詞。如：
